Resident Advisor Program
The Resident Advisor Program at Saint Mary’s College of California is a comprehensive leadership opportunity under the Office of Residential Experience. Resident Advisors (RAs) are part of the residential staff living within the residence halls to build and maintain community. RAs work collaboratively with other departments and offices on campus to support residents and foster an inclusive atmosphere that promotes learning beyond the classroom.
Resident Advisor Application, Academic Year 2025-2026
Resident Advisor applications for the 2025-2026 academic year will open on February 3, 2025. All applicants will be required to attend an info session prior to receiving access to the application.
Additionally, all applicants are required to attend the 2025 Student Leadership Conference hosted on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Register for the Student Leadership Conference here!
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the time of application, at time of hire, and duration of hire with at least sophomore class standing at the start of the position (August 2025)
- Must be in good academic standing at the time of application, at time of hire, and duration of hire. Resident Advisors must maintain a 2.50 cumulative GPA. Student academic records will be reviewed by the Associate Dean for the Campus Experience.
- Must be in good conduct standing at the time of application, at time of hire, and duration of hire. Student conduct records will be reviewed by the Associate Dean for the Campus Experience.
- Experience living on a college campus or equivalent relevant experience is required.
- The resident advisor position must be considered the student’s primary out-of-class activity. Candidates must understand that there may be times when it is necessary to put aside other commitment/involvement because of RA responsibilities.
- RAs may not hold both a Resident Advisor and Associated Students of Saint Mary's College Executive or Orientation Leader position concurrently.
- RAs May not hold two or more job/co-curricular commitments concurrently. RAs holding additional employment/student leadership positions must disclose those positions at the time of application and at the start of the position, if hired.
- Hold the term of position (mid-August, 2025 through end of May, 2026) for Fall, January & Spring Semesters. (Permission may be granted for January Term travel based upon application, but is not guaranteed]
- Some physical activity including bending, lifting, twisting, and climbing stairs is required to properly complete responsibilities. In accordance with the Americans with Disability Act, reasonable accommodations can be provided after a Resident Advisor completes the request through Campus Housing and Student Disability Services.

Applicants who are studying abroad and are unable to attend an in-person Info Session can email Fiona Corner at fsc3@hpbvtv.com to schedule a virtual Info Session. Only applicants studying abroad are eligible for a virtual info session.
Info sessions will include a review of the application process, tips for navigating the application, and expectations of Resident Advisors.
